Architecture Exhibit at BAM

If you love design, don’t miss the Louis Kahn: The Power of Architecture exhibit which will open on Friday (Jan.29) at Bellevue Arts Museum. Louis Kahn is regarded as one of the twentieth century’s greatest architects and artists. He developed the Kimbell Art Museum in Texas and the National Assembly Building in Bangladesh. The exhibit is filled with architectural models, original drawings, photographs and films. On Friday, his son, writer-director Nathaniel Kahn, will be at the museum for a screening of the film he made about his father My Architect: A Son's Journey. A question-and-answer session will follow. The screening is currently sold out but you can email the museum to get on the waitlist. (Psst … on Saturday the museum is having Free Family Day!)

Multi-Million Dollar Home Sale Will Benefit St. Jude

A luxury home is on the market in Bellevue, which isn’t out of the ordinary, but this home sale’s proceeds will help the life-saving work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Bellevue-based builder John Buchan Homes along with its subcontractors and vendors donated labor and materials to build the 4,911-square-foot house. Read on here

Inside Bothell’s McMenamins Anderson School

To say that McMenamins Anderson School is a new community hub for the city would be wrong. Long before the tiki bar, the craft cocktails, and the concert venue, the school was a vibrant community center swarming with students and dedicated faculty. See inside the 70,000-square-foot property that now features a 72-room hotel, movie-theater, pub and brewery, full-size pool, restaurant, and more.
